"My fiancé and I were so pleased with our experience during the engagement session with Mara. My fiancé and I currently live in Boston but are getting married in the Washington DC area. Mara was so accommodating, creative, flexible and funny. When she first called to introduce herself and to hear some of our ideas, she was very professional and open to hearing our vision. Two days before we were about to travel to DC Mara called to let us know that it was going to rain on the day we selected. She was really flexible about changing the date, time and location. We were fortunate to have her as our photographer. On the day of our engagement session, we were late after being rerouted several times by our GPS. We called Mara to explain that we were running late and she was very understanding to our tardiness. Once we arrived, I was frustrated due to the late arrival but Mara welcomed us with a smile and a few jokes to lighten the mood. The session went well and the pictures came out amazing. "I recently used Mara to take the photos at my wedding. She showed up early and got straight to work taking pictures of us all getting ready and I was so happy when she was able to get some great pictures of me with my dogs while I was in my dress. She was always willing to work with what I wanted and got the shots that were needed even though we ran short on time. Mara was able to think quickly when it was still raining after the ceremony and found new places to take the pictures and they turned out great!!!! "First of all we must say wow after reviewing our wedding photos. We saw an example of what Mara was bringing to the table with our engagement pictures. Our wedding photos are flawless and we have received nothing but compliments. We are able to relive our wonderful day just from the photos we see. Every single photo whether portrait-like or candid has us eager to frame them all over our home. Throughout the night and next day we received compliments about Mara and the biggest was she was not blocking the way of events, which they felt a lot of photographers do during a wedding. She allowed us to voice our opinion on photos we would like capture and best of all was we felt comfortable with her. She incorporated some of our wedding props with our rings, vows and etc, which we loved. We look back at photos and make comments about the perfect angle and how happy we were that she captured such a photo that we did not realize until now would be such an important memory to us. "Mara was amazing with my husband and I from the start. We went to an open house at The Pros where they had many different vendors for video, photography, deejay. etc. When meeting the vendors as well as looking over their work, we thought Mara stood out by the gorgeous photos she took but also how personable she was. We selected a package that included both engagement and wedding photos and Mara was to be our photographer for both. Both my husband and I were pretty clueless at the time about photos "What should we do? wear? Where should we do it? etc" flooding poor Mara with questions. She however, gave us clear direction as to each and every aspect of what we needed to worry about as well as what we needed to communicate to her (like time, location etc.) At the engagement shoot, she made us feel at ease, which is difficult for two people who hate being in front of a camera. And our shoot was not a run-of-the-mill shoot. We (probably I) decided to be ambitious and request the session be split up between 3 different locations all in a couple mile radius, telling a story, if you will :) . Mara didn't stress us about time, though these were busy places with limited parking during rush hour. In fact, at times when I was looking at the clock, anxious, Mara, completely professional, was more interested in making sure the shots were great. As a result, it turned out beautifully, more so that I could've imagined. I know this review is long and I am almost done, but I couldn't leave without speaking about the wedding. Mara was fantastic under pressure, and having to rally a large wedding party and even larger groups for family photos, she never once showed if she was frustrated with us. Though young, she managed to have an air of authority to keep everyone organized and on task. The shots at the wedding, just like at the engagement shoot, were thoughtful, creative, poignant, just outstanding. I can't say enough about Mara and highly recommend her!!" -Kelsey

"When we first decided to attend a showcase to look for photographer we had a person of interest that we wanted to check out. When we actually visited the showcase that’s we came across Mara. Mara’s personality alone is what attracted us to her. Mara seemed to be very into the whole wedding theme and very excited to talk about people’s weddings and ideas. Mara is the only photographer we came across who didn’t see photography as just a job but a as an interest, a hobby, a piece of art. That’s exactly what we were looking for, someone who is going to take the time and put in the effort to make our pictures beautiful and give us the best results you could ever imagine. After talking with Mara for a few minutes and looking over her galleries we were sold, 100%. We didn’t even waste our time looking into any other photographers after meeting with Mara. We had a huge wedding party (Bride, Groom, 7 Groomsmen, 7 Bridesmaids, 2 Ring Bearers, Flower Girl, and both sets of parents); and we thought going into this we would have some issues with getting people in line to get those perfect pictures but Mara stepped up to the plate, took on the challenge and captured every moment we could ever ask for. Taking the wedding pictures were stress free and so much easier than we thought it would be because Mara wasn’t scared to take on any of our request and she took charge when needed, she even laid on the ground to get the angles needed to capture great pictures.
